He Made the Honor Roll
Here’s a little background on my son. He enjoys music. He loves bouncing. He loves to make vocalizations or what I refer to as ‘happy sounds’. He likes things that move and spin and light up. He loves to ride on the back of my bike and be pulled in a wagon. He enjoys movement. He loves to rough house and be tickled. He enjoys walking the dog and dragging pull toys that have long stings. He loves helium balloons. His enjoys Mardi Gras beads. He absolutely adores being in water whether it’s the bathtub, a hot tub or a swimming pool. He loves to snuggle. He likes to eat. He knows some sign language. He is great at cuddling. Hair has always been a fascination for him. He loves throwing. He enjoys loud sounds. When out doors, he likes to run, arms out at his sides, squealing and giggling with joy. He likes to ride in the car. He likes starring at bright lights and intricate patterns. He gives the best hugs in the world. He smiles almost constantly.
Here’s the flip side. Josiah is non-verbal. He has very limited fine motor skills. He doesn’t hold a pencil. He doesn’t write his name. He has an attention span of something like 30 seconds. He requires assistance to feed himself and dress himself. He isn’t interested in books. He needs help to complete simple wooden puzzles. He rarely sits still. He doesn’t communicate to us what he does know or understand.
Josiah brought a report card home yesterday. These are his grades:
Reading 96
Writing 94
Math 96
Science 98
Social Studies 100
We were very impressed.
